On Saturday Amber, Angela, Abbie and I planned to go to a wedding, about 1 1/2 hours away from our house. The wedding started at 3:00, so we decided to leave at 1 and get there early. Little did any of us suspect what would happen to keep THAT from happening!
As we started off Amber and Angela said Abbie and I had to pump gas, so I said I'd pay for it, while Abbie pumped :D The gas station we were going to was about 10 minutes away so we sat back for the drive. Just before getting to the gas station Abbie starts looking for her shoes. She had brought them downstairs with her purse but planned to go barefoot while we were driving. Somehow the shoes ended up on a chair and were left behind. So we turned around, got the shoes, then got gas, pretty sure that we wouldn't be early for the wedding. How true that turned out to be!
20 minutes later something on the car (near the front bumper) broke, and was only holding on by a screw (or 2). What do you know, we didn't even have a screwdriver with us! So we waited on the side of the road for half an hour while Dad drove out to help us. During this time we had to decide whether or not we should go on to the wedding and get there REALLY late, or if we should turn back.
We decided to go on, and, at a quarter to 3 we were able to start driving again. The rest of the drive passed without mishap, and we arrived at the church in time to see the parents of the newlyweds walk out of the sanctuary! Oh well, we were there for the food! JK!!!!!!!!!! :D
As I walked down the hall I saw the brother of a wonderful friend of mine. I hoped he had brought his sister with him but kind of doubted it, seeings how usually he seems to be alone. Stepping into the reception hall my attention was drawn to a table directly across from the doors... or rather someone sitting at that table! I knew her! It was Johanna!
Just then people were asked to form a line for the food, so Johanna got up and walked to the other end of the room, never dreaming that I was there. A, A&A and I stood in line with some other friends, a long way back from where Johanna stood with her family. Part of the time I stood at the edge, watching her and debating in my mind whether or not I should go up to where she was. I didn't have to. As her eyes wandered around the room suddenly they came to rest on me and a look of pure astonishment crossed her face as our eyes met. A moment later she was with me, our arms around each other.
It was the second time we had ever met in person, and the second time we had met in this particular church building! However, the first time we, unfortunately, had not been able to get any pictures (due to Johanna's camera being left in the car, and Angela walking off with hers), so this time we absolutely HAD to get some! After eating we grabbed Grace and Emma and headed out to the practically-empty hallway for some pictures, which I have yet to see.
We separated for a bit, but knew we would see each other at the ECD afterward (though at first we hadn't planned to go to it, we ended up having time to go for a little bit). After visiting for a bit the dancing started with the Virginia Reel, which is probably the dance I know the best. After that we only had time for one more before we girls had to leave (to be home by 9:00). The bride and groom got there late and wanted some pictures dancing the Virginia Reel so several other people (including me) were pulled in for the "fake" dance :)

Thanks Hannah, for your updates. Your faithfulness in this area often rebukes me.☺ And thank you especially for sharing about every-day-sorts-of-things.... it's nice to find other people who have fun with life. (Okay, so arriving late at a wedding and leaving your shoes behind you, aren't necessarily funny at the time.... but, they are real life stuff that most people don't take time to appreciate, let alone write about it on their blogs☺) I've enjoyed getting to know you a little bit better on face book- you're such a sweet girl. I can see your love for the Lord shining through you. Let me just encourage you to continue loving and seeking the LORD with all your heart, mind, soul, and stength. Love ya girl!♥
It sounds like you got to meet Johanna from S&S! What fun, I wish I could meet her someday!
Oh Hannah, what a lovely narrative of our meeting! It brought back very distinct memories. :) Such wonderful memories! Isn't that funny that the 2nd time we met was in the same building? That makes me laugh every time I think of it. How neat is that?
Oh my goodness, I was so surprised when I saw you standing over there smiling at me with your cute smile! Such good times. It was so fun to hang out together and chat about life! I hope it will happen again soon. :D
And I'll be sending you that picture SOON!! =)
Love you dear!!
