A few projects...

About 2 Christmases ago the Engineer and Fabulous Sis got me 2 pieces of fabric: one a pretty black fabric with a bunch of purple flowers on it which I used the following summer. The other piece was a light-weight, white stripe. I originally planned to use it for a regency dress after I got some fabric to go under it. But over a year passed and I still hadn't gotten that other fabric. So a month or 2 ago I found some solid pink and set about trying to decide for sure what pattern I wanted to use, as I no longer wanted a regency dress out of it. Back in February we girls went to see Fabulous Sis and I came home with a stack of patterns, most of which were to decide between for this dress. So I decided to use a blouse pattern, just make it longer, cut it out and made it. But when I put it on I DID NOT LIKE IT. :-/ So what was I supposed to do? Thankfully I had had a good amount of both fabric left so I went up stairs and cut the dress apart. The bodice went into the trash while the skirt was used for the bodice of the new dress, leaving the left-over fabric for a new skirt. I must say I really like the results! :)

Last spring when I went to CA with Fabulous Sis and her family I found this really pretty blue fabric. Returning to TX I borrowed a friend's Cross-over regency dress pattern. Well, it took too long to get around to making this dress, but at last I set about to make it. But I didn't have the directions so another friend (from a totally different state) sent me the directions. Therefore this is a cross-country dress: the fabric came from CA, pattern pieces from TX, directions from NC, and it was made in MO. :)

Several months ago my wonderful sister-in-law took me shopping. While in one store I found this cute teal and brown dress. Now, over the past couple of years the Engineer's influence seems to have shown in that I've started liking teal a lot better than I used to. ;) Anyway, I got this dress (which was messed up a bit: one strap needed to be fixed), intending to fix it and then perhaps list it on eBay or something... but that was not to be. I fell in love with it and decided to keep it. A week or 2 ago Mom found a brown shirt at Old Navy and I wasted no time in trying it on under the jumper... needless to say, I loved it. :D

I mentioned a trip to TX earlier this February. Well, I didn't only come home with patterns (or even those and a book that I borrowed). It seems that Fabulous Sis had found this cute dress at Target and liked it so much that, since she couldn't find it for herself, she decided to get it for me. Thank you so much, Sis, I love it! Of course I needed a jacket to go over it, but that was simple to do. I nabbed a cute pattern from Fabulous Sis's pattern boxes and a week or so later hitched a ride with Dad (he was going to get his haircut) so I could go to Joanns after he got a haircut. I found the perfect black "lacy-stuff" in the clearance section for only $2 a yard! I was REALLY happy: I've found it hard to find good fabric for that price now. :(

Thank you, Jenny! :)

I made the regency dress and the pink/white dress. The teal and brown one was messed up when I got it so I just had to fix it, and the other one I got and made a jacket for it.

Wow, I really love the blue Regency dress!

Have you made it for a special occasion and if not when(where) you gonna wear it? Just wondering, as I'm considering making a Regency dress too...

Also are you wearing it with.. ahem... 'correct' underpinnings? If its from The Elegant Lady’s Closet pattern, it says that one needs to have the period underpinnings... I really like the dress but not sure if I should attempt it cos I am definitely not ready to make Regency underthings yet! LOL

Thanks!
