Back in May Angela, Abbie and I took a spur of the moment trip to
Camp David of the Ozarks for the weekend outreach that
HSA was doing. We hadn't expected to be able to go, and thus didn't think much about it. But as the time drew nearer Abbie and I wanted more and more to be able to go. The outreach started Friday afternoon. That day I got Dad's permission to go if we could find a ride. A girl on HSA wanted to go and was willing to take us with her but she lived about an hour away so we'd have to get there. Angela, when asked if she would drive us that far, decided that she might as well just take us all the way to Rolla. About half an hour after making the decision to go we were in the car heading to 3000toys to trade cars with Dad (Amber needed the Honda the next day). 3 girls managed to pack and be out of the house in half an hour and yet it took us at least an hour to even get going: first we had to trade cars, then we had to go get gas (which took longer than it should have) and then there was the traffic to fight. But finally at about 5:00 we were on the way! We arrived at the camp later than we'd hoped but we able to join in and meet people before bed.
Next morning began the weekend-long camera war. Caleb seemed to thoroughly enjoy tormenting people with his fancy "toy" (what photographer
doesn't like taking a bunch of pictures?).

And then you have people trying to "defend" themselves from his camera with nerf guns...

Morning coffee

Waiting for breakfast was a good time to get to know the people you're going to spend the weekend with

After breakfast and clean-up we all divided up into teams to get all the work done.
Painting the cabin basement

Carrying paint between locations... and talking

Some of the guys were working on the barn

I was going to paint but then they found out that I can sew (and enjoy it) so I was put to work sewing curtains and such :)

Nerf gun/camera war again

Unfortunately we didn't get a whole lot of pictures. :-/ But we do have a few. ;) I'm so glad we got to go, even at that late notice. We met some great people whom we will, hopefully know for many years to come! :)
