It's beginning to look like spring

Bulbs are beginning to pop up after lying in wait around a year

Plants are returning

The daylilies are back!

Lettuce that I planted about a month ago is coming up

Lemon Thyme is bushing out even more. I have this thing for citrus and to have an herb that smells just like lemons is... just wonderful!!! <3

Little plants coming up

Basil

The one thing that hasn't come back: my rose bush. :'( Those of you who know me may remember when I got this rosebush last year. I was so excited! The first rose was big, red and beautiful. Then they started shrinking. And now... well, you can see for yourself. :sigh: Anybody have a rose bush you want to get rid of? :)

My back bed with (starting in the top left corner) Daniel's cactus (that *I* would like to move but he won't let me), Rosemary in the front corner, lemon thyme, my poor rose bush in the middle and parsley on the other side of that. I'm not sure how good that parsley will be now: It never died off over winter. In the back you can see the trellis I just made. I plan on putting in morning glories tomorrow. I'm almost hesitant to do it but I think they'll be safe with the way the weather is now. Of course it could still do something weird but I don't think so... and I'm HOPING it doesn't!

The side back where we have tiger lilies and a few daffodils. That trellis I just put up today but I didn't make it. Amber and Angela put it together a year or so ago to keep Annie on the back porch. Now we have a better gate (more dog-proof) and so I've put this to use elsewhere. Along the strip there at the back of the picture where it doesn't look like we have anything yet we have hostas every year. Some are starting to come up already! :)

And now for my big project of today: a trellis/person block at the end of the front porch. We have a little garden on one end of the front porch where we had strawberries for a time and now we have pansies. But there's one problem: people have a habit of jumping off the end of the porch, not minding anything that might be planted in that bed. Therefore every time we plant anything there before long we have a rather large bare spot right in the middle. It has been my goal to put something up there so we can actually grow things without them being as apt to be trampled. And I did it! It's a little difficult to see here but we had a large piece of wire fencing of some sort laying over with our tomato cages. I have no idea where it came from but after checking with Mom I decided to put it to use. Tomorrow when I put morning glories in the back I'll put some here too. I'll try scarlet runner beans along the front of this porch but we'll do morning glories on the one side. Since we lost our redbud that used to be in front of our house Mom has wanted something there to shade the living room window. This year I plan on getting something to grow there if at all possible. :)

Have you tried Moonflowers? I love mixing those with Nasturtiums and Morning Glories. They make for some really great photos, too. :-)
