NE trip

About a week before July fourth an idea was suggested and plans evolved rather quickly. My boss was heading out of town for vacation on the eighth but already there wasn't  lot to do in the shop and she had mentioned I might be able to take an extra day or so off work the week of the fourth. Angela and her best friend R. were traveling to Canada to visit Amber and Stephen, leaving here on the third. The fourth they'd be driving all day, passing Nebraska on their way. It was either then or wait till after my boss returns which would put my visit to Gavin's family sometime in August.  Needless to say I jumped at the chance to visit them earlier than expected!

So Wednesday the three of us loaded up and drive to Kansas City to stay in R's grandparents' house. Talk about CUTE house! It's one of those really old, little houses that has the cute, homey, cozy feel to it that not many newer homes that I've been in have had.

Thursday morning we got up early and headed out to meet Gavin's parents near Nebraska City. We were fifteen-twenty minutes late leaving and knew it wasn't likely we'd get there at eight like we'd planned. Somewhere along the way we turned up music... the type of music that is best played loud enough that you can't hear everything else that's going on (like bagpipes and brass bands :D  ). After playing the music for a while I glanced at my phone and noticed I had a missed call from Mrs. S. We had to laugh with relief as I listened to her message: we weren't the only ones running late! In fact we were all at just about the same schedule!

Somehow I really don't have any pictures of that first day. We got to the farm (my favorite farm! ;)   ) around lunch time. Gavin had already left for work so I spent the afternoon with the girls. All my life I was the youngest of the sisters. I wanted younger sisters but only had younger brothers. Now I feel like I've got five little sisters!!! And I love 'em all!

Friday morning a couple of the girls had on Nebraska t-shirts so we all decided to wear them :)

Friday morning Gavin had to work till noon and was gone by the time I got downstairs (I just barely missed him!). Later on in the morning Mrs. S. and I went out for lunch and just for girl time. Love getting to spend time with her!

Believe it or not, till Friday afternoon I had never seen Wall-E.This unbelievable problem was remedied that afternoon however as Gavin and I sat down with the girls to watch it. CUTE movie! :D

Saturday morning on the front porch

All of us in our NE shirts :)

And our hats that wanted to blow off :D

Saturday was spent at the house take care of the animals, making pizza together, and getting ready for a cookout with more of Gavin's family. Oh, and a photoshoot. :)

In the corn sporting Katie's apron :)

Recognize this? We tried the solemn looks but (in my humble opinion) this one won out in the end. :D

But at last Sunday it was time to come home. :(  I just can't wait till next time! :)

So, I'm a week behind in seeing this, but hey, better late than not at all, right?
It looks like you had such fun and I'm glad were able to take you up to meet. :) It was fun having you along too.
