Have you ever picked a handful of sage leaves and taken a huge whiff of them? They smell pretty good, don't they? I just did that a little while ago when I went out to get some for a spur-of-the-moment experiment. I love the smell of fresh and freshly-dried herbs that came straight from my garden. Herbs enthrall me! Their smells, flowers, and uses are just... enthralling! :D One thing that amazes me is that God created so many wonderful smells in so many cool plants. Men couldn't do a FRACTION of what Yahweh has done! And they aren't made of chemicals that will give people (like the girls in my family) headaches!
I found a really cool book at the library today called "The Book of Herbs" by Dawn Titmus. I had never seen it before but when I pulled it off the shelf and flipped through it I knew I needed to read that one! So now I have a great big book on the desk beside me all about herbs, choosing, growing and using them!
For a while I've wanted to grow a bunch of herbs and learn to use them in different things but until this year I've had minimal chances to try. But right now we have rosemary, lemon thyme, and sage (and some parsley that still hasn't died from last year) and I just ordered lavender, dill, basil, thyme to plant along with parsley and oregano that we already have. Now, if I can just get them to grow correctly I should be all set in the way of herbs this year. I'm really excited!! :)
