Rambling - literally

So today I bought myself a camera (small enough that I can easily carry in my purse in case I need it while I'm out and about) and browsed the Red Tag material shelves at Joann's (they're on sale 50% off this week) for fabric to add to my stash in preparation for my coming projects in my course.

Tonight I'm working on my first mood board. As I worked on it, finding the images that I wanted I realized that I was leaning more toward the flowy, fantasy, fairy-like details of various items. I've narrowed my images for the board down to just a few that, I hope, will help get the main theme across.

One thing I love about getting into fashion like this is that I can look at an article of clothing that I really wouldn't wear and find something to take from it to use for something I would wear. There are so many gorgeous details in clothing. I think people make a mistake when they look at certain clothes and immediately dismiss it because it's ugly/immodest/not their style. Who knows what they could be missing in the design!

Today Alla, in her trip to Joann's, found a piece of red (or pink, probably depends on who you ask) and white striped material. She brought it back to the shop and showed me before I left. I saw more of it when I went to Joann's myself but decided against buying it. Before coming home I stopped back by the shop to help her mark the hem of the beach dress she was making out of it for a trip she's taking. As we messed with it we both fell in love with that fabric more and more. I tried to convince myself that I didn't need it - but in the end those arguments failed. It was with the Red Tag materials and so was on sale for a great price so I went ahead and bought the last 3 yards. It's the type of material that is so simple but so pretty, flowy and drapes so well! I can't wait to see what I can make with it!

This week, along with the projects I have at work I'm hoping to finish (and list) more aprons to my Shop, and get some of my own alterations done. Sometime in the next couple of days the swimwear fabric I bought should arrive and then I can work on altering 2 swim tops and making a pair of swim shorts (do you have any idea how hard it is to find any that are long enough and still comfortable?). Alone with the swimsuit I have several dresses that are either too short, too big or both, that have been waiting in my sewing pile for me to make time to fix and wear them.

Sorry this post is so lacking in pictures. I have my own camera now so I should be able to have pictures more frequently but at this point I don't have any. Hopefully in my next post there will be some to keep you updated with my sewing projects (which actually are more plentiful than they might seem from the number of them that make it to my blog). So, until next time, when I hope to have a project or two to share, good night. :)
