For some reason Mom planted habanero peppers in the garden, among a few other kinds of peppers, this year. Just the other day Daniel picked 2 of these and brought them to the kitchen where Abbie and I were doing dishes. None of us knew exactly what kind of pepper they were, but we did know that they were hot. Daniel suggested (in a joking manner) that Abbie eat one.
Abbie: what will you give me?
Daniel: Hmmm, a dirt clod? A new name: mud!
Me: How 'bout her own jar of peanut butter?
They seemed to like the idea, so it was agreed that if Abbie would eat one of those peppers then Daniel would buy her a regular jar of crunchy, Smuckers peanut butter. So, what did Abbie do but eat a pepper. As she chewed her face turned red (BRIGHT red!) and her eyes started watering, but she ate it.
"I have never eaten something so hot in my LIFE!" she said later, after doing what ever she could to cool her mouth off! "It wasn't worth a jar of peanut butter."
So now there is a jar of peanut butter in the fridge with this label: DO NOT EAT! Abbie's PB!
Never eat a plain habanero pepper!
